If a woman has regular periods, ovulation, (the release of egg) occurs on the 13th., 14th or 15th day of the menstrual cycle. Therefore , it is best to have sexual activity between 10th and 18th of the menstrual cycle with the day the period begins being counted as the first day for this purpose. Please consult your doctor if your periods are irregular.

If the couple have been having unprotected sexual activity for a year or more, or even earlier in a woman who is above 35 years or more, then they should consult a gynaecologist.

Test tube baby is a procedure where the egg from the wife and the sperm from the husband are made to join (fertilise) in a very special laboratory and later transferred into the wife’s uterus for proper development. These babies are as normal as those born naturally . Definitely there is no doubt about their parents.

With today’s technology, either with surgery or test-tube baby procedure, 60% to 65 % men can be helped to father a child.

Normal sexual activity – around ovulation time

Intrauterine insemination (IUI) – where wife is given medication to produce better quality eggs and then husband’s sperm is specially prepared with certain substances which increase the chances of pregnancy
